Custodian

Position Summary:
The Custodian role is a part-time position and reports to the Shelbyville Campus Pastor as a direct report and the Facilities Director as a collaborative report. The primary ministry is cleaning, event set up and tear down, and upkeep of the spaces and facilities for the Shelbyville campus. This is both a practical ministry (setting up, tearing down, cleaning, etc.) and a relational ministry (working with church staff, volunteers, and the general congregation). The Custodian needs to be a person who is active in the church and a visible participant during the morning services and regular New Hope Church events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Work up to 10 hours per week, including evenings and weekends for events. The custodian is expected to work flexible hours, accommodating up to 10 hours weekly. This schedule includes evenings and weekends to support various church events and activities.
Perform weekly tasks, including:
Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming
Wiping/dusting and disinfecting surfaces
Stocking supplies, restroom essentials, etc
Collect and dispose of trash from all areas
Conduct deep cleaning (as needed)
Support facility needs for activities and events.
Assist with event setup of chairs, tables, and other necessary equipment
Assist with event teardown, ensuring that all items are properly stored and the area is cleaned
Utilize Google’s suite of applications and Planning Center effectively.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree or relevant experience
Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent communicator (both written and verbal) and innovative thinker.
Keen sense of organization.
A growing Christian faith and character.
A commitment to the mission of the church.
Basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements
Standing for extended periods of time
Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Spiritual Requirements
A faithful, growing Christ-follower who is deepening their personal relationship with Christ, models this to others.
A passionate desire to see people come to know, love and follow Christ in the context of real community.
